A Bartlett Wedding 11 Years in the Making: Amber + Jose
It was eleven years ago in history class when they met for the first time. Since both were too shy to talk to the other, it wasn’t until a year later they connected over email. Their first date was a success and so were all the ones that followed. Shortly into the relationship, Jose went to Mexico for a little over a month. For the very first time, Amber says not only did she miss him, but felt a piece of her was missing. It was when he returned, she found out he felt the exact same way.
Fast forward several years later when Jose and Amber took a vacation to South Haven, Michigan. Knowing how much Amber adores lighthouses (she calls it an obsession), naturally he wanted to ask her the most important question of her life, privately and nearby. They found meter parking and parked the car nearby the North pier adjacent to a gorgeous green and white lighthouse. Between walking hand in hand together on the North Pier, South Pier and enjoying a dinner in town later that night, there were just too many people for Jose to propose in a private manner. Walking back to the car, they noticed a police officer walking away from their parked car after placing a ticket on their windshield for slightly having gone over the meter time.
Later that night and without a marriage proposal, they decided to go for a swim in the hotel pool. Alone and in a perfect moment, Jose was just about to propose when the fire alarm went off. Before they went to sleep that evening in South Haven, Jose didn’t care anymore where the perfect spot was because he had the perfect girl right in front of him. That was more than he could have ever hoped for and asked Amber to marry him before going to sleep that night. Of course she said yes, as she cried happy tears.
From the first day of history class to their beautiful September wedding day totaled 11 years in the making. Last Saturday, they were married in front of friends and family and promised to love one another forever. And you know what they say about the rest; it’s…history.
Thank you Amber and Jose for allowing me to be a small part of your first day as husband and wife. May you enjoy the rest of your days making sweet history together! Much love, Annie
