Giving Thanks + Fake Christmas Trees

I completely adore the house I grew up in.  My mom and dad bought the small piece of land that neighbored the beginning of a bike path before I was born.  My parents worked hard after work on the week days and all through the weekends, building a home for a growing family in the town they both grew up in.  My grandpa and uncle, both brick layers by trade, even laid all the brick that comprised the house that I spent 18 years of my life growing up in.

Most of all, I loved spending holidays in that house.  My mom and dad both are from big families and year after year, always were the ones to graciously offer hosting Easter Sundays, Thanksgivings, and Christmas’.  I would walk down the hall after crawling out of bed and watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade that played on the 13 inch box TV in the corner, while watching my mom hand-make pie crusts.  She would always put an apron on me to make me feel helpful, even though I would just sit eating my breakfast on the the counter height stool that faced all the baking magic.  Smells of turkey, bread baking and the sounds of the parade that played on the TV always take me back to simpler times that I just adore.

This Thanksgiving, my family traveled to Chicago and we celebrated with turkey, baked bread and other recipes my mom has given me over the years.  After all these years, she still is the best cook and navigator of the kitchen and makes one mean Pumpkin pie.  Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays and it’s a wonderful reminder to feel grateful all the days through out the year.

As a way to show you how Thankful I am, I have decided to spread some HOLIDAY CHEER this season, and offer a special to all Engaged Couples who book their 2014 Wedding with Annie Steele Photography.  Contact me today…I would love to meet up soon to show you some of our most recent work and talk all about customizing your Wedding Day Photography to YOU.

Happy Holidays, friends!  Peter and I will be going to pick out a {fake} Christmas tree tonight and can’t wait to decorate for the holidays in our new home!  I promise to post pictures soon… xo
