She sat there getting her makeup and hair done in the early afternoon. I arrived at the hotel to find Karissa, her mom and sister getting ready in the bridal suite. Remnants of leftover breakfast sat on the desk, and a exciting calmness filled the room. Karissa was ready to be married to Joe, to whom she had met years back in a church play. Both extremely fun loving people, an instant friendship blossomed into so much more shortly after meeting. It didn’t take long for their friendship to grow into love, that was built around love of family, friends, music, movies and puppies. Frequent trips to Lake Geneva, a love of Chicago sports, and a shared joy of Broadway shows in the city made Karissa and Joe’s love grow into the kind of love that the two never wanted to live without.
On a quiet New Year’s eve in 2010, Karissa and Joe shared a midnight kiss. When Karissa opened her eyes, Joe was holding a gorgeous engagement ring in his hand. He got down on one knee, and asked her to marry him. It was the perfect way to start off 2011 and the rest of their lives when she said Yes!
Last weekend, Karissa and Joe got married in front of family and close friends. Both, share a love of the South, decided to bring the South home. Their wedding at Hoosier Grove Barn was a beautiful celebration of love and all things DIY. Gorgeous vintage centerpieces and details throughout handmade with love, decorated the reception while a 12 piece Orchestra played as guests danced the night away. Karissa and Joe, I can’t begin to describe how incredibly honored I was to document a day you both will cherish for the rest of your lives. Thank you for allowing us to celebrate with your family and friends and we wish you a lifetime of so much love and joy! I hope you enjoy some of my favorites…
