When their story began, they were friends and attending the same college together.  Christine and Kris along with a group of friends, scored $1 tickets to a Chicago Cubs game versus the Brewers in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and decided to make the trip on a spring day in April.  They arrived early to tailgate drinking some brews and eating greasy chesseburgers.  Just before the ballgame began, they started walking into Miller Park and Kris pulled Christine to the side while their friends kept walking.

He said,  “if the Cubs win tonight, I’m making you my girlfriend.”  They genuinely laughed all the way to the top of the nose bleed section they were sitting in and watched until the end of the 9th inning where the two rival teams were tied.  In an extra inning, Alfonso Soriano made a run that ended the game in a Cubs WIN! They cheered loudly with all of the other fans, lost in the moment, and Kris said, ” I guess this means your my girlfriend now.” He winked, gave her a kiss and 7 years later; they are planning the rest of their lives!

Here are a few of my favorites and I can’t wait for their wedding later this year at the Armour House! <3

The day was a little chilly, but that didn’t stop these two from a beautiful E-session

True Cub fans at heart <3

Christine… you are just gorgeous!

Chicago lit up during the winter months is pretty spectacular.

Afterwards they toasted with their favorite champagne to a wonderful life!

Years ago, Veliyana and Matt were working at the same grocery store for months in different departments, but never knew the others name.  After work one night and at a local bar, Matt finally talked “to the bank girl” he had told a good friend he wanted to ask out.  During their first conversation, Matt managed to accidentally knock over Vel’s drink and it spilled all over her shirt.

After that memorable night, Matt didn’t have the courage to ask Vel out.  Vel, on the other hand, sent him the sweetest message and after a few messages back and forth, a date was planned.  Ever since that first date, Matt and Veliyana have planned life…together.  They have supported each other through her undergraduate and graduate school, and his paramedic school, police and fire academy.

On a warm and little overcast day, Veliyana and Matt invited their family and closest friends to celebrate their destination wedding on the island of Cozumel in Mexico.   Both lovers of tropical getaways, they fell in love with this destination years ago while vacationing.  The day from start to finish was remarkable and filled with so much love, a little rain, fancy tropical drinks served in coconuts, live music, celebration and dancing.  I hope you enjoy some of my favorites from this absolutely gorgeous wedding…

I loved that Vel and Matt wanted to have a private ‘First Look’…

It did happen to rain and we walked around the resort looking for covered areas.  (You would never know it was pouring behind them).

And then the sun came out right before they were married!

As many best friends do, Giuliana and her best friend talked in code years ago when they would go out on dates.  When a date was going good, they would text one another “good shoes.”  If the date was not going well, the message “bad shoes” would be sent and in an effort to get out of the date with the help of the other.  A few short years ago, Brian asked Giuliana out and the two went on their very first date.  Within the first 10 minutes, she messaged her best friend “bad shoes,” but her best friend insisted on giving him a chance.  Later that night, she began to see how truly perfect he was for her and the messages eversince then has been “good shoes.”

After four years of dating, Brian surprised Giuliana after a long day of work with reservations at one of their favorite restaurants, which also happened to be where their first date was.  After dinner at Maya del Sol, Giuliana noticed their server bringing out a cake when they hadn’t ordered dessert.  She immediately noticed what was written in icing on the cake… “So is it good shoes or bad shoes still?”  Right then and there, Brian got down on one knee and proposed to his love.  She of course said Yes (code: good shoes) and they celebrated that night with friends and family at her sister’s restaurant.

Recently, I met these two in Fulton River district for a extremely fun engagement session!   I can’t wait for their upcoming Summer Wedding and I hope you enjoy some of my favorites!

First, Giuliana’s beautiful sparkler…

It is easy to see how in love with each other these two are…

And how stunning Giuliana is.

So, they are beautiful people inside and out, and they have fabulous style.

Triple threats, really.  ;)

Ten Years.  Ten anniversaries, ten years of dreams, fears, making plans and getting through everything together when our plans to plan did not work.  Peter and I celebrated ten years married earlier this month, and it was only fitting we celebrated the only way we know how.  On a beach.

The year started a little rocky with a health scare, so we decided to take a short flight to Florida, stay on the ocean, wear sandals for 5 days straight, and slow down.  This last minute trip started wonderfully when we missed our flight, but luckily we were able to get on another flight about 5 hours later.

The very next day, we woke up to our ten year anniversary.  The day was beautiful, just like on our wedding day 10 years ago in Dominican Republic.  In the late afternoon, the wonderfully talented Kim from Big Day Photography took some pictures of our little family and I am forever grateful.

When the sun lowered in the sky, that amazing man I married popped open a small bottle of bubbly he had secretly picked up in the nearby cafe, some borrowed champagne glasses and he toasted to our life we have built together.  With our feet in the sand, and no one around, he read to me the most heartfelt written message that I will forever cherish. <3

The day was a little cooler than usual, so I paired Harper’s pastel pink Zara dress with some gray leggings and my favorite rose gold Mally Mocs.

Something about palm trees and salty air…

My mother in law spent a few days with us in Florida, and she was able to take Harper back to the hotel while Peter and I got some pictures in of just the two of us…

If you are thinking of an anniversary session, PLAN IT!  You never know the road ahead, or when there will be more feet joining your crowd.  Enjoy today and cherish pictures always!

Marry a man that surprises you with champagne.  And then toasts to you.  <3

Afterwards, we spent the evening in Las Olas and toasted a few more times to ten <3

Have a wonderful Thursday friends, and plan your anniversary session soon!

I received the sweetest email one day from a lovely woman named Kate.  She had recently gotten engaged, and was inquiring about engagement pictures.  I happened to have photographed a good friend of hers wedding a few months prior, and I was honored she loved our work so much to contact me.  After a few friendly emails back and forth, we had planned their engagement session in Lincoln Park.  After their Engagement Session and a cocktail at the rooftop at Hotel Lincoln, I was honored they asked me to be their Wedding Photographer in Anna Maria, Florida.

Their sweet love had begun a few years back at a Halloween party when Kate immediately noticed Tom, the Ostrich, across the room.  It wasn’t until being reintroduced at a New Year’s Eve party that they hit it off.  Kate is talkative and social, while Tom is shy, but truly the perfect yin to her yang.  They share the same sweetly, sarcastic sense of humor; and self described kids at heart.  After Tom had proposed, they vacationed to Anna Maria Island, and fell in love the the picturesque, beach town.

It was our absolute pleasure traveling to southwest Florida to capture their sweet, sweet love.  Family and close friends gathered to celebrate with Kate and Tom, and the day could not have been more perfect.  They said “I Do” under a gorgeous arbor next to the Atlantic Ocean coastline.  They danced the night away at The Sandbar and I am just so happy for these two to start this next exciting chapter of their lives as Mr. and Mrs!  I hope you enjoy some of my favorites…

I absolutely loved the stunning bouquet– babies breath, roses, peonies and wrapped in burlap perfection…

Kate got ready with her girls in a nearby home…

This beautiful home had amazing sunlight and banana trees <3

Casual, classic beach colors made this day even more stunning.

Tom got ready for the day with his groomsman at another home just minutes from the beach

A toast before heading out to see his Bride for the first time…

Tom looking relaxed and dapper…

We arrived to The Sandbar just minutes before the First Look

Kate and Tom chose to see each other before the ceremony to capture some great, relaxed pictures and I couldn’t have been more excited to capture it all.

I just love these two!

Couples who let me put them beside ‘Fresh Stone Crab’ signs are my favorite

Kate… you are stunning and so gorgeous!

I just LOVE this picture!

Officially Mr. and Mrs. and the sweetest nephew guest…

The best looking Bridal Party around!

This love…

As the southwest sun was slowing setting in the sky, cocktail hour and the reception was just beginning

Amazingly delicious local cupcakes…

Thank you to everyone who made this day beautiful!

It is no surprise that the couple hours leading up to the sun setting, is my favorite light of the day.  Nicole and Tim were married at Bull Valley Golf Course during this magical time of the day.  The sun was slowing falling in the sky, and the golden light just illuminated the couple as they said I DO.

I was honored to see Wedding Guide Chicago feature this stunner of a wedding and gorgeous couple!  To see the full feature, you can click HERE!

We are so excited to see Kristen and David’s Michigan Avenue, winter Engagement Session featured on Inspired Bride.  I had such a wonderful time meeting this special couple and documenting their love.  You can see their feature HERE!

They had met at University of Miami in Ohio through a mutual friend, and after six months, Kristen finally agreed to one date with her a friend’s hometown friend.  They dated, fell in love and two years of long distance love and monthly Delta flights only strengthened the love these two have for one another.

As David prepared his MBA Duke University application, he had to include 25 things about himself.  Number 25 stated, “By the time you read this, I will have dropped to one knee and asked the most incredible woman in the world to be my wife.  Wish me luck.”  Kristen said “Yes” and the rest is sweet, sweet history…

A few weeks ago before the winter wind’s blew into Chicago, I had the pleasure of photographing this darling family of 3 in nearby the lakefront.  I first met Anisha a couple years ago working at Northwestern Hospital.  I worked in Radiology and she was completing her fellowship as an Interventional Radiologist.  She is an extremely talented, intelligent and one of the funniest, wittiest woman I’ve ever met.

I was honored when she asked me to capture this special time in their lives.  Anisha, Jeff and their adorable son, Kellan met me at Lincoln Park and I have so many favorites capturing this sweet, family love.  Enjoy some of my favorites…

What a beautiful, beautiful family <3

Kellan is such a sweet boy!

And, pretty handsome as well.

Light + Love.

Outside of Doctor scrubs, Anisha has pretty fantastic style.  Especially in shoes.

Jeff is an Anesthesiologist in Chicago.  With both of his parents being doctors, I wonder what Kellan will grow up to be…

Happy Monday, friends!
